The Alabama Education Association is pleased to sponsor the seventh annual Be A Champion and Read contest.
K-6 students are challenged to read six reading-level appropriate books to qualify for the Grand Prize: Iron Bowl tickets – one winner for each team – for the student and two guests. Each prize includes sideline passes and pre-game activities.
Eleven schools, one from each Inservice Center Region, with at least 75 percent student participation will be entered to win one of eleven $500 school library grants.
Eleven educators, one from each Inservice Center Region, who decorate bulletin boards, walls, or doors to promote the contest in their school will each be eligible to win $200.
To enter the decorating contest, send digital pictures of displays to firstname.lastname@example.org. Photo submissions will be accepted until October 31, 2018.
Winners will be judged based on various criteria, including social media participation. Post pictures and tag AEA on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. Remember to share the competition with your friends, family, co-workers, and #myAEA!
Contact Ashley McLain at 800.392.5839 or email email@example.com with any questions.
You should have received the following materials:
Bookmarks: one for each participating student. Students must choose to read for either Alabama or Auburn.
Parent Letter: one letter for each participating student. This letter includes a book list on the back to return to the teacher.
Student Entry Cards: one for each participating student. Students must choose to read for either Alabama or Auburn.
Participation in the contest is as easy as A-B-C:
A. Send the parent letter and bookmarks home with students and promote the contest in your classroom.
B. Complete the entry card for each student who returns the completed book list. Remember to check the box on each card indicating the student’s preference — Alabama or Auburn.
C. Return all completed entry cards to your school’s Be A Champion and Read Contest Coordinator in time to meet the contest deadline. The envelope with all entry cards must be postmarked no later than Wednesday, October 31, 2018.
