Teachers:

The Alabama Education Association is excited to celebrate ten years of champion reading through its Be A Champion and Read contest! K-6 students are challenged to read six reading-level appropriate books to qualify for the Grand Prize: Iron Bowl tickets – one winner for each team – for the student and two guests. Each prize includes sideline passes and pre-game activities.

Be A Champion Materials (you should receive the following materials in the kit):

Alabama Bookmark: One for each participating student. Students must choose to read for either Alabama or Auburn.

Auburn Bookmark: One for each participating student. Students must choose to read for either Alabama or Auburn.

Parent Letter: One letter for each participating student. This letter includes a book list on the back to return to the teacher.

Student Entry Cards: one for each participating student. Students must choose to read for either Alabama or Auburn.

Participation in the contest is as easy as A-B-C:

A. Send the parent letter and bookmarks home with students and promote the contest in your classroom.

B. Complete the entry card for each student who returns the completed book list. Remember to check the box on each card indicating the student’s preference — Alabama or Auburn.

C. Return all completed entry cards to your school’s Be A Champion and Read Contest Coordinator to meet the contest deadline.  The envelope with all entry cards must be postmarked no later than Friday, October 27, 2023.
