No Out-of-Pocket Expenses for PEEHIP

On behalf of the Alabama Education Association (AEA), I want to thank Dr. David Bronner for his tireless work and steadfast leadership for Alabama’s active and retired educators. We are also grateful to the members of the TRS and PEEHIP boards who continue working diligently to ensure healthcare premiums remain affordable and accessible for the educators who dedicate their lives to serving Alabama's students.

For many years, AEA and AERA have worked alongside Dr. Bronner and board members to put educators first. Together, we have sought practical solutions that protect the healthcare and retirement security of those who have spent their careers investing in Alabama's future.

As revenues within the Education Trust Fund continue to decline, we recognize the importance of ongoing collaboration among lawmakers and state leaders to identify long-term solutions that protect the benefits educators depend upon. AEA and AERA remain committed to working constructively with policymakers and partners across Alabama to ensure that educators' healthcare coverage and financial security are not jeopardized.

Alabama educators and retirees have dedicated their lives to serving our students and communities. They deserve a retirement and healthcare system that is stable, sustainable, and responsive to their needs. We will continue to advocate for policies and investments that honor their service and put educators first.
