Former FTA State President Elected as Educators Rising National Student Officer

Members of AEA’s high school student program, Future Teachers of Alabama (FTA), attended the Educators Rising National Conference in Portland, Oregon, held June 19-23.

While at the conference, Solomon Moore, former FTA state president from Spain Park High School, was elected as a 2026-2027 Educators Rising National Student Officer. He will serve as the National Vice President of Engagement, continuing his history of dedication to the education profession. In this role, he will work towards creating meaningful experiences and opportunities for future educators nationwide. He will collaborate with the Educators Rising national officer team to design initiatives, develop resources for chapters, and promote student engagement throughout the year.

Educators Rising provides high school students with resources and opportunities to pursue careers in education. Each year, Educators Rising hosts a national conference where students and teachers can connect and network with members from across the country. Students also have the opportunity to compete for national titles in events designed to allow students to develop and showcase their teaching skills.

Also during the conference, FTA members from Albertville Innovation Academy in Albertville City Schools, Baldwin Preparatory Academy in Baldwin County Schools, Boaz High School in Boaz City Schools, Foley High School in Baldwin County Schools, Huntsville Center for Technology in Huntsville City Schools, and North Sand Mountain High School in Jackson County Schools competed in various nationwide competitions. Solomon Moore, Samantha Busby, Gabriella Sanchez, Ali Durant, and Kaitlyn Jackson served as delegates.

The results from the conference competitions are:

Semi-Finalist in Varsity Spanish Pre-K Children's Literature:

  • Foley High School: Sherlin Saldana and Giselle Perez

Red Ribbon in Varsity Interactive Bulletin Board Contest

  • Foley High School: Sarah Branscomb and Kennedy Collins

Third Place in Varsity K-3 Children's Literature:

We are so proud of our FTA students and can't wait to see what the future holds for them!
