Over the weekend, we wrapped up the 2025 Be A Champion and Read contest! Carter Harrell, a first grader from Daphne Elementary School in Baldwin County, and Toxey Dorsett, a first grader from Prattville Primary School in Autauga County, traveled to Auburn, Alabama, to cheer on their favorite teams in the Iron Bowl.
Both winners were announced during surprise pep rallies at their respective schools the week before Thanksgiving. On November 30, Carter, Toxey, their families, and AEA President Dr. Bridgette Massey Johnson had the opportunity to enjoy pregame festivities from the sidelines before heading to their seats to watch the state’s fiercest rivalry unfold in Jordan-Hare Stadium. No matter the points on the scoreboard, everyone is a winner when they read! We are so proud of every student who participated in our reading competition this year. Now it’s time to gear up for our math contest, Be A Champion and Count! Kits will be sent to your schools later this month. Visit myAEA.org for more information.
