In an effort to address the teacher shortage and to align certification renewal requirements with current Alabama laws, the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) has implemented ONE-TIME certification renewal options. Originally scheduled to end on June 30, 2023, these options have now been extended through June 30, 2024. New certification renewal requirements will be available July 1, 2024.
To continue certificates that expire June 30, 2023: An individual who holds a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate, Professional Leadership Certificate, OR a renewable Career and Technical Education Certificate that expires June 30, 2023, may use this ONE-TIME OPTION to continue their certificate without meeting any academic (experience, professional development, coursework, PLU, etc.) requirements. The items listed below must be postmarked or received in the ALSDE Educator Certification Section between January 1, 2023, and June 30, 2023.
