Future Teachers of Alabama (FTA) Stipend Grants

The Alabama State Department of Education is offering grants to support FTA programs by providing $1,000 for teachers to serve as FTA program directors in each Alabama senior high school with Grades 9-12. Additionally, $500 is allocated to be used for program expenses and activities for a total award of $1500. The mission of Future Teachers of Alabama (FTA) is to promote an interest in teaching and to provide students with experiences to help them determine if teaching is a viable career choice.  FTA chapters provide students with opportunities that may encourage them to pursue careers in education and develop leadership and professional attitudes among students interested in becoming teachers.

A maximum of 166 grants of $1,500 each will be awarded. Funds are available for obligation from October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025.

To receive the grant, teachers must submit the application and fulfill grant requirements from October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024.  Grant requirements include the following:

  • Submitting the official FTA Chapter Participation form and dues to AEA
  • Providing a list of chapter members and officers
  • Submitting a calendar of chapter events
